—A personal note from Corbie Haas—
"For some women, MOPS is the first time they'll walk through the doors of a church. And that's because MOPS is a place that understands moms —understands their unique needs, challenges and joys in this vital season of early mothering. Every mom is welcomed, accepted, and challenged to reach her potential and recognize her influence with her family and her community. MOPS impacts moms and their families at a time when lifelong values are being formed. It also connects moms and their families with a local church for personal growth and spiritual development." Those are the words of Naomi Cramer Overton, former president of MOPS International.
MOPS moms reached out and hugely helped me at a time when my little family was going through lots of painful changes, and I was stuck in new baby blues. The moms drew me out at meetings, playdates, and much-needed mom's night's outs, and networked me to find a supportive group of mommy friends. At our meetings, you will find a warm atmosphere of acceptance, delicious food, fun activities, and a variety of special speakers. There are moms with kids ahead of yours, who can advise you on the next stage; and moms with younger children, who are looking to you for guidance.
Our meetings are open to EVERY mother of preschoolers: working, stay-at-home, single, married, divorced, and teen moms. We all have our motherhood in common, and together we can find answers to the questions and challenges that motherhood brings... or at least laugh about them! We meet at 6:30 PM at the church on the 2nd Thursday of each month, September through May. The cost of the entire year is $34, for which the dues for our local group are covered, plus you receive MOPS International membership, a yearly subscription to the bimonthly MOMSense magazine, and MOPS logo gifts. Your first meeting is FREE, so if you haven't checked out MOPS yet, come to a meeting and try it on for size! You will not regret it, and you'll meet moms experiencing the same joys, frustrations, wonders, and excitements that come with having preschoolers at home.
